Rose Schmaltz Q&A

Our Past President and member of the flute section!

How long have you been with CWS?

Since 2009 (9 years)

How long have you been playing your instrument?

So long! 21 years

What do you do for a living?

I teach private flute lessons through my own studio in Chestermere, Chinook School of Music and Music Makers. I also teach clinics to Junior High and High School students throughout the year. During the spring and summer months I work at Lakeside Golf Club in Chestermere.

Why is music such an important part of your life?

Music has always been a big part in my life. As many aspects of my life have changed through the years, music has always remained. It’s something I have always loved and been passionate about….you could say I’m a music nerd. For years music was more of a hobby for me, in the last few years I have jumped right in and now music is my life. Music is one of the few things in life that will actually give me goosebumps.

Sweet or salty?

1000% sweet. Nothing beats a piece of milk chocolate.

Favorite place you have traveled and where is on your bucket list?

My favourite place that I have travelled would have to be Ireland. I did an exchange program in University and went to Trinity College in Dublin for a year of school. It was one of the most amazing years of my life, maybe not for my liver though. I travelled all around Ireland and met relatives that I didn’t know I had.

One of the places on my bucket list is Machu Picchu in Peru. I absolutely have to see it!
